[PR] Into the Treetops — Description

Pyre’s footsteps faded, leaving them with rustling leaves and the thundering of their heart. No sparks, no smoke, no heat. Just the misty forest, as cold and damp as a corpse.
And… more footsteps. They felt a pocket of air pumping hard. Someone was following them, and fast.
They glanced back and knew Arcadia’s intent. They’d seen him attack Pine. And they’d seen him attack the monster, too - they had no wish to battle him in close quarters. He was undoubtedly stronger. They wished that they hadn’t run so far from the fire he obviously feared. They could have blown flames his way, or smoke and embers directly into his eyes. He got a few precious steps closer as Pyre thought about what to do. Then they sprung up the nearest tree. The wind pushed them up too fast again, so that they scraped the tops of their toes on the bark. Didn’t matter. They climbed up well past the first few branches, past the tree’s midpoint, and then launched into the air. They crashed into another branch. They leapt again, forcing themself through the leaves with another gust. A trunk slammed into their shoulder and elicited a hiss of pain. They dug their claws into the bark and turned, glaring down at the approaching threat. Silently daring him to follow them into the treetops.

A sketch of one of my posts in Trial 1, where Pyre uses the environment to their advantage and prepares to fling Arcadia into the wind if he follows. Their eyes are glowing to signify their powers are in use, not white/blind b/c of the scars. Those are from an earlier even this trial. I've got another piece for that already started.

Finishing this isn't on my list of things to do, but I like it, so I might return at some point. Might.
